How does a Sports Chiropractor treat Sports Injuries?
Sebastian Gonzales Sports Chiropractor
Check out our Active Release Sports Chiropractor at the Performance Place Sports Care. We not only offer Chiropractic adjustments but we also focus on the soft tissue aspect of repetitive stress injuries, such as tendinitis and other sports injuries.
If you have been to a Sports Chiropractor and they are not addressing your needs as an athlete, our facility would be a great new option. Dr. Sebastian Gonzales is a Sports Chiropractor whom understands an athlete’s needs to compete.
Our services include:
Active Release Technique: Active Release Technique is a specific form of soft tissue work, which has a main goal of removing the scar tissue or adhesions from muscles, tendons, and ligaments. I myself have had deep tissue work and sports massage from various massage therapists, however I still think someone trained with Active Release Technique is at the top of their field. Our Sports Chiropractors perform Active Release Technique, but not all do or even soft tissue techniques for that matter. Only a mere fraction of Sports Chiropractors do.
Every Active Release Sports Chiropractor’s credentials can be found on the Active Release® website.
Chiropractic Manipulation: As a Sports Chiropractor I do believe Chiropractic manipulation/ adjustments have value. However they are not useful in all conditions. I use whatever tool or method is necessary for each sports injury, or tendinitis, based upon that athlete’s exact problem. There is no one treatment which can correct all sports injuries. Many times it is a variety of joint mobilization, soft tissue manipulation, physical therapy/ rehab therapy, and communication with the coach.
Sports-Specific Conditioning: As a Sports Chiropractor, I believe strength is needed within certain muscles to excel at certain sports. If you have an injured tissue, such as a tendon or muscle, it is beneficial to strengthen that area specifically before you move into more complex sports-specific motions. Physical therapy and physiotherapy are great ways to address specific muscular strength issues which may limit your return to play.

I am Dr. Sebastian Gonzales and I have been an athlete since a child. I played various sports in high school and some in college, and continued to do so till this day. I understand sports injuries because I’ve had overuse sports injuries. It is not uncommon for an athlete to experience overuse sports injuries various times throughout the careers.
Rotator cuff syndrome, elbow tendinitis, IT band syndrome, hip pain, Achilles tendinitis, patellar tendinitis, and even back pain are great examples of sports related overuse injuries.
